Chris Evans wants to continue playing Captain America

Chris Evans wants to continue playing Captain America

The actor previously suggested that he wanted to leave the role

Press Captain America actor Chris Evans has said that he does not want to pass on the superhero’s shield just yet.
Evans first took on the role of the comic book character in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. He has gone to play the Captain in four more Marvel movies: 2012’s The Avengers, 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and, most recently, Captain America: Civil War. The latter will hit cinemas tomorrow (April 27).
In the past, Evans has suggested that he will pursue a career in directing after his six film contract comes to an end.
“Without these movies, I wouldn’t be directing,” he told Variety in 2014. “They gave me enough overseas recognition to greenlight a movie. And if I’m speaking extremely candidly, it’s going to continue to do that for as long as the Marvel contract runs.”
However, the star now appears to have changed his mind. In an interview during Civil War’s press junket, Evans said that he would be willing to reprise the role in the future.
“It is so funny thinking about how fast time has moved. We started this in 2010, and six years is gone in the blink of an eye. In the beginning it was so terrifying, and now you’re almost scared… I’m scared to walk away,” he told Collider.
“I’m scared to not have one of these coming. For the past six, theres always been ‘next year, we start on that one,’ and it’s been wonderful. Especially because the movies are so good. When you make good movies, who wants to stop doing that? So, I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Evans will next appear as Captain America in two-part sequel Avengers: Infinity War, the first part is set to be released in 2018.
