Press Nick Levine, 15th April 2016 Prince is said to have returned home after reportedly being taken to hospital earlier today (April 15).
According to TMZ, the singer's plane made an unscheduled landing this morning at Quad City International Airport in the small city of Moline. He is then said to have been taken to hospital.
TMZ has since reported that Prince's representative has informed them that the iconic musician is suffering from a bout of the flu. After boarding a plane to travel to a planned gig in Atlanta, Georgia, he is said to have felt "considerably worse" and arranged for the plane to make an emergency landing. He reportedly spent three hours in hospital before travelling home.
Further updates will be reported as they arrive.
Prince recently announced that he is writing an "unconventional" memoir titled 'The Beautiful Ones', named after a song from his 'Purple Rain' album. The book is expected to arrive in autumn 2017.
The memoir is described in a press release as "an unconventional and poetic journey through his life and creative work – from the family that shaped him and the people, places, and ideas that fired his creative imagination, to the stories behind the music that changed the world".
Chris Jackson from publishers Spiegel & Grau said when announcing the book: "Prince is a towering figure in global culture and his music has been the soundtrack for untold numbers of people – including me – for more than a generation; his creative genius has provided the musical landscape of our lives.
"Millions of words have been written about Prince – books and articles, essays and criticism – but we're thrilled to be publishing Prince's powerful reflections on his own life in his own incandescently vivid, witty, and poetic voice."
