Prince postmortem to be carried out today

Music icon passed away at Paisley Park home, age 57

Getty David Renshaw, 22nd April 2016 A postmortem on Prince's body will take place later today (April 22).
As reported, Prince died at his Paisley Park home yesterday aged 57. He was found collapsed in a lift at his home, which doubled as a studio. He was pronounced dead at 10:07am on Thursday. The postmortem will determine the cause of his death.

As yet, no details around Prince's death have been released. The local Sheriff’s department released a full statement, it reads:
"Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson reports that on April 21, 2016, at about 9:43 am, sheriff’s deputies responded to a medical call at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen. When deputies and medical personnel arrived, they found an unresponsive adult male in the elevator. First responders attempted to provide lifesaving CPR, but were unable to revive the victim. He was pronounced deceased at 10:07 am. He has been identified as Prince Rogers Nelson (57) of Chanhassen.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death."

The singer's publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, also confirmed the death with the following statement: “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57. There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
Recent reports claimed that the singer’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois on April 15 for health reasons. He later spent a short period of time in hospital there. The next day, he appeared in concert. Sources close to Prince said he was suffering a "bad bout of flu".
He was then reported to have thrown a public party at Paisley Park on Saturday (April 16), to celebrate the good weather and the support and love he had been shown since he was taken to hospital the previous day. Referring to the stories about his health, he told the crowd: "Wait a few days before you waste any prayers."
Born Prince Rogers Nelson on June 7, 1958, the singer went on to release 39 studio albums over a music career that lasted nearly 40 years. He rose to world fame in 1982 with the release of fifth album ‘1999’, and achieved worldwide success with his sixth, 1984’s ‘Purple Rain’, which was certified platinum in countries including the USA, UK, Australia, Switzerland and France.
Last year he released two albums, ‘HITnRUN Phase One’ and ‘HITnRUN Phase Two’, and was recently reported to be in the middle of writing his memoir, ‘The Beautiful Ones’.
Tributes to Prince have ranged far and wide with President Barack Obama stating "Today, the world lost a creative icon" and musicians including Madonna, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd and Katy Perry leading the tributes.
