See Sundy Best's Jubilant 'Until I Met You' From New Live Album
Since the release of their last studio album Salvation City in 2014, the Kentucky duo Sundy Best, one of Rolling Stone Country's inaugural Artists You Need to Know, have grown their sound and their numbers. Led by singer-guitarist Nick Jamerson and percussionist Kris Bentley, the group added guitarist Stan Nickell and keys player Teddy Weckbacher to re-create Salvation City's swirling mix of country and rock onstage.
Tomorrow, Sundy Best releases a chronicle of their live show, the concert album It's So Good Live, a 24-track recording from a pair of shows in Louisville in October 2015. The record includes fan favorites "I Wanna Go Home" and "Lily," the sublime heartbreak ballad "Smoking Gun" and the sing-along "Until I Met You" (premiering on Rolling Stone Country). The band also filmed the concert and will stream it in its entirety on their website beginning tomorrow.
"This record was icing on the cake to a great year in 2015. I feel like this live record is a more accurate depiction of our art and who we are," Jamerson tells Rolling Stone Country. "The thing that has stood out for us more than anything over the last six years is the power of our live show. I'm very thankful to have captured the energy of that on this record."
"We've always wanted to do a live recording, as we have always felt most at home while playing on stage versus a studio setting," echoes Bentley, who with his long hair and lightning-fast hands looks like the Muppets' Animal when pounding his cajon. "We feel [It's So Good Live] is the best representation of us so far."
Sundy Best will play an album release show tonight in their native Kentucky ahead of a string of dates throughout the South.
