Follow-up to 2014's 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' opens in cinemas on May 19

Press Nick Levine, 25th April 2016 A dramatic new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse has been released, featuring the return of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine right at the end. Scroll down to watch it.
The follow-up to 2014's X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set for release on May 19 and introduces a host of new cast members, including Game Of Thrones actress Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers aka Cyclops, former EastEnders actor Ben Hardy as Angel and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.
Meanwhile, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes star Kodi Smit-McPhee will portray a young Nightcrawler and The Newsroom's Olivia Munn has been cast as Psylocke.
They join returning cast members Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters, as well as Oscar Isaac, who plays Apocalypse, the villain that gives the film its title.
Rose Byrne is reprising her role as CIA agent Moira MacTaggert from 2011's X-Men: First Class and original X-Men star Ian McKellen returns as Magneto, though Patrick Stewart has confirmed that he will be not be appearing as Professor X in this instalment.

The film's plot synopsis teases: "Since the dawn of civilisation, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible.
"Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.
"As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction."
